In the morning we visit the archaeological museum in Samaipata, after which we will assent to the Samaipata fort for a guided tour of the site.
The site has been declared World heritage site by UNESCO in 1998 and is the greatest work of pre-Columbian architecture in South America.
After lunch we drive to the southern tip of Amboro national park, to the locality of Yunga. Here we will explore a giant fern forest along wooden walkways with some stunning views of Amboro national park. The road to and from Yunga leads through some were interesting countryside, giving the idea of the variety of climatic zones that are found in the Amboro national park.
We leave Samaipata and head to the largest Bolivian city of Santa Cruz. Just before we arrive to Santa Cruz we detour to a lovely nature reserve of Lomas de Arena. The reserve encompasses several habitats: pampas, chaco forest, dry forest, marshes and large water bodies, there are also huge sand dunes here. Following our visit to the reserve, we drive to Santa Cruz to have a lunch in the renowned restaurant “Casa de Camba” and then we spend rest of the day discovering the colonial Santa Cruz.
