This last travelling day takes us from the tropical lowlands to the third largest Bolivian city of Cochabamba, and from there to the Altiplano and finally to La Paz.
We have the last long drive ahead of us. During this part of our journey as we travel from Villa Tunari to Cochabamba, we cross the entire altitudinal gradient from the lowland plains to the high-altitude summits driving from tropical rain forests to the alpine tundra. We pass deep canyons with steep cliffs and pronounced slopes, exuberant vegetation, torrential rivers, and majestic waterfalls. In time we reach the highest point of the road at 3,500m, passing the Corani Dam, that supplies Cochabamba with drinking water, and we descend into the fertile lands of the Cochabamba valley where we stop for lunch. Before starting our journey to La Paz, we visit the lookout above the city which possesses a mighty Christ statue, similar to that of Rio de Janeiro from which there is a beautiful view of the whole city and the Cochabamba valley surrounded by Cordillera de Cochabamba on one side and Cordillera de Tres Cruzes on the other.
