Day 23 - Explore Chapare

Depending on the group’s energy, we can either spend the day resting by the pool, or we can do one or two excursions of the surrounding attractions.

Excursion 1 - In the morning we visit the Repechón caves. These are not far and are famous for their inhabitants - the guacharo bird, also known as oil bird. The caves are occupied by these rare and beautiful birds in mating season, thus unless you are visiting before May or after September, the caves may find to be empty. Nevertheless the walk to the caves offers very interesting panoramic views, as the topography is spectacular.

Excursion 2 - Parque Machia Nature Reserve and the Inti Wara Yassi Animal Refuge could also be places of interest. This park extends over 36 hectares of rain forests and enables visitors to walk through the park with ease on walkways. The sanctuary, operated mostly by volunteers, houses animals (monkeys, parrots and even some felines) that have been mistreated in captivity. Efforts are made to readapt them to their natural habitat.

Should we do both excursions, we would then finish the day by the pool, relaxing and revitalising our bodies for the final leg of our tour, the return trip to La Paz.
