We have an early start today as we have a long journey north.
As we arrive to the road that takes us to the park, we drive through a dry chiquitan forest where small farms exist and large haciendas cover the sides of the road. As we travel away from the “main” road, the farms give way to new settlements, settled by colonizers who settled here from the Altiplano. During our drive, should we be fortunate, we may sight a number of wild animals crossing the road, it is not uncommon to spot a giant anteater here, or wild pigs. As we travel further north we pass several logging camps and eventually we arrive to the turn off which leads to the park itself.
The road here is the road less travelled and the surrounding evergreen rainforest closes onto the track brushing the sides of the vehicle. The next 30km takes well over an hour to get through and eventually we come across a small settlement named Florida.
