Sucre has an altitude of 2800m and has a lovely temperate climate. Sucre is known in Bolivia as the “White City”. This is because the central colonial part of the city is fairly well maintained and all houses are painted white. Sucre was the capital of Bolivia, and because the high court still maintains its seat here it is still the constitutional capital of Bolivia. La Paz is the administrative capital of Bolivia with the seat of government.
Sucre is dotted with old colonial houses and has large number of churches which are fairly well maintained, and because Sucre is relatively small town it has a layback relaxed feeling about it.
