Day 26 - La Paz sightseeing – Chacaltaya - Folklore Show

We start our trip towards Chacaltaya by climbing out of the La Paz valley onto Altiplano, here we start to gradually climbing towards Chacaltaya. If the weather is good we will get amazing views of Mt. Chacaltaya (5400 m) and Mt. Huayna Potosi (6088 m – 19974 f). The road continues to rise gently until it gets to the base of the Chacaltaya massif, here it becomes narrow and rocky, and it starts to climb sharply in a series of hairpin curves towards the Club Andino Lodge at 5262 m.

From the lodge we climb alongside the glacier to the top of the mountain, Bolivia’s highest mountain can be seen from here; the volcano Sajama (6542 m – 21463 f). There are also views of the other important mountains around La Paz, and even the southern part of the Lake Titicaca can be seen from here.

After Lunch we visit the several museums that La Paz has to offer and we finish our tour at plaza Murrillo, the “power” square of La Paz, as here we have the parliament and governmental palace. We finish the day with our last dinner and folklore show.
