Day 3 - Visit of local villages and the Islands of the Sun and Moon on the Lake Titicaca

The day starts with a visit to the community of Zampaya, at the northern tip of Copacabana peninsula. We have magnificent views of the Lake Titicaca from the road to Zampaya. From Zampaya we continue to the small port of Yampupata, where we board a motor boat and continue our tour on the Island of the Sun. Here we visit inca ruins of Pilkokaina, Yumani and Chinkana, the latter about 3 km from the lovely port of Challapampa. We continue with our boat to Island of the Moon and visit the Temple of the Moon (Iñak Uyu). Then we return to mainland and back to Copacabana, where we spend another night.

Day 4 - Drive to jungle town of Coroico through the Cordillera Real

We start the day early, going up to the Calvary hill above Copacabana, and then we visit the famous Cathedral. Here our visit of Copacabana ends and we drive back to La Paz. On the way we stop for lunch in the village of Huatajata, where we can enjoy lake trout with the amazing views of the Minor Lake Titicaca. After lunch we continue back to La Paz, however we bypass the centre of the town and drive to the high mountain pass of Cumbre at 4700m, where we enter the Cotapata National Park to see the beginning of the Choro Inca Trail. Here we cross the Cordillera Real and our journey continues with sharp descent on the other side of the mountain range down to our final destination for the day, the lovely town of Coroico, perched below the Uchumachi Mountain. There are magnificent mountain views along the way.
