Day 17 - Visit of Jesuit churches in San Miguel, San Rafael and Santa Ana

We start our day with the visit of the Jesuit church if San Ignacio, which is the largest church in the Jesuit missions. Once we have explored San Ignacio we drive to San Miguel to explore the local church there. Here the church is not so imposing but is interesting nevertheless. It has a unique gold paled altar and beautiful mural paintings. The next church we visit is in a sleepy town of San Rafael. This is one of the most impressive churches in the region and it has been recently restored and possess es a large linen canvas painting in the Sacristy and carved furniture built into the walls. There is also an amazing mica lined pulpit which gives the impression of a silver surface. There are beautiful woodcarvings inside and outside of the church and there is an old sun clock at the patio.
