Day 5 - Exploration of Coroico area and return to La Paz

We can spend the morning resting by the pool enjoying the amazing views from the hotel of the Cordillera Real, or those who feel up to it can take a hike to the Uchumachi Mountain.

According to the local legend, Uchumachi was the birthplace of Pachamama (mother earth). The hike takes about 3-4 hours and is fairly demanding, as it negotiates elevation difference of about 700 m (2300 f). The path follows the ridgeline of the mountain. The trail passes through different vegetation zones, drier bare grasslands with some bushes, and pockets of humid jungle like forest with low trees and bushes. There are marvellous views from the track.

After lunch we will drive down along little used track to Santa Barbara River. Here we walk along the river and see lush tropical forest, butterflies and if weather and water level permits we might even have a short dip in small pools of water, called the Vagante pools. We continue by short stop by a coca field. Later we return to Coroico, bit a farewell to it, and decent down to the village of Yolosa and from here we start our long climb back to the Cumbre pass and then back down to La Paz and to your hotel.
