Tiwanaku, Lake Titicaca and Sorata (TE04-01-TLS)

Day 4

8:00-13:00 Visit of San Pedro Caves

After a breakfast we will go and visit San Pedro Caves. These caves are about 11 km (6.8 mi) from Sorata, and the road is fairly easy going. A guide will go ahead in the car and the group will be able to follow on foot (with a walkie-talkie contact), guide will be able to pick you up anytime you decide that you had had enough of walking. The scenery is fairly amazing all the way to the caves. There are views of Sorata with Mt. Illampu towering above. There road follows a valley contour high above San Cristobal River no. The caves are not very large, but are interesting nevertheless, there are blocks of salt in them, and the local community runs a generator to light the path which leads to a little pool which is at the accessible end of the caves. The caves are also inhabited by colony of bats. After the visit of the caves, we shall return along the same way to Sorata and have lunch either at the hotel, or at any restaurant in the town.

15:00-19:00 Sorata – La Paz (170 km – 105.6 mi)

After the lunch will return to La Paz along the same road we have arrived. And by nightfall we should be at your hotel.
