Dengue fever

Outbreaks of dengue fever have been reported in departments of Beni and Pando, however danger if infection to travellers travelling with Bolivian Experience tours is nearly nonexistent. Dengue is spread by daytime biting mosquitoes; there is no vaccine to prevent it. Travellers should take extra care to avoid mosquito bites. Use repellent on exposed skin.

Besides vaccinations and preventive medicines, there are a common sense measures which will help you to protect yourself from being infected with any mosquito carried disease. DO NOT GET BITTEN by mosquito.

Use a good insect repellent (bring it along from your country, as good repellents are hard to obtain in Bolivia), use it often and regularly
Use clothing with long sleaves and long trousers, especially in the evening – less of exposed skin you have the less of a probability of being bitten
In the evening before going to bed, spray the room with insect killing spray.
