Destination Laguna Verde
Laguna Verde (Green Lagoon) is a salt lake in the southwest of the Altiplano of Bolivia inside the Eduardo Avaroa Protected Area, on the Chilean border at the foot of the volcano Licancabur. Its green color is caused by sediments, containing copper and magnesium minerals. It is about 3.7 km (2.3 mi) long and 2.3 km (1.4 mi) and has a surface area of 5.2 sq km (2 sq mi) and it is joined to Laguna Blanca (White Lagoon) by a narrow straight. Its altitude is some 4,330 m (14,205 ft) above sea level.
At around noon, during a sunny day the view of the emerald green lake with the Licancabur volcano in the background is unforgettable.
